KUALA LUMPUR — A two-year-old girl was found dead with bruises, cuts, and bloodstains on her body in Paya Jaras, Sungai Buloh, believed to be a victim of abuse.

Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Mohd Hafis Muhammad Nor said the unconscious child was brought to Sungai Buloh Hospital around 12.45 am Thursday by her adoptive parents, aged 27 and 28. Doctors discovered bruises, swelling, and dried blood around her mouth and nose.

Police arrested the couple the same night to assist investigations. Both have no prior criminal records. The child’s body was sent for a post-mortem, and the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
