"The Hunt" web series based on the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is now streaming on OTT

A new web series titled "The Hunt", centered around the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, has been released on the SonyLIV OTT platform. Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu through a suicide bombing that shook the entire nation.

This series focuses on how the Indian intelligence agencies uncovered those involved in this shocking conspiracy. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor, the series stars Amit Sial, Sahil Vaid, Bhagavathi Perumal, and others. It is available in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

The show draws inspiration from books written by senior officers who were part of the special investigative team formed to capture Rajiv Gandhi's assassins. These works, along with other well-researched publications mapping the conspiracy behind the assassination of a popular Indian leader, have seen significant circulation in various languages.

The seven-episode series is based on factual data drawn from one such book authored by investigative journalist Anirudhya Mitra. Created by the team under National Award-winning director Nagesh Kukunoor, The Hunt offers a deep dive into the complex web behind one of India’s most high-profile assassinations.
