KOTA BHARU — Dozens of illegal crossings along the Kelantan-Thailand border have raised serious security concerns, said Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan.

He said the 105km border, mostly along Sungai Golok, has only three official entry points — Rantau Panjang, Bukit Bunga, and Pengkalan Kubor — but many unofficial routes are frequently exploited for cross-border activities.

The region’s geography and close family ties between communities on both sides make it even more vulnerable, he added.

The state government, he said, is committed to boosting border security by deploying more personnel, improving assets, and enhancing inter-agency cooperation.

“This is a shared duty to protect our sovereignty, public safety, and the nation’s future,” he said.
