SUNGAI PETANI — Police shot dead a 34-year-old man suspected to be a key member of an armed robbery gang linked to losses of nearly RM6 million.

The suspect, with over 30 prior criminal records, was killed in a shootout at Bandar Puteri Jaya last night during a Bukit Aman-led special operation. A pistol and other items were seized at the scene.

Acting Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspect was part of a gang involved in robberies, gangsterism, and drug trafficking across several states since 2022, including three recent armed robberies in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Perak.

This comes a day after two other members of the same gang were shot dead by police during a separate shootout in Jitra.

Police vowed to continue cracking down on violent criminals, especially those using firearms. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
