The mysterious death of temple guard Ajith Kumar in Sivaganga shocked many after a post-mortem revealed over 40 injuries, brain hemorrhage, and cigarette burns. Initially deemed accidental, the case took a turn as five policemen were arrested under Section 196(2)(a).
With CM Stalin’s consent, the probe was handed to the CBI, which is expected to submit its findings by August 20.
TVK party leader Vijay met Ajith’s family to offer condolences and demanded a special investigative team. He also called for a white paper on 24 similar deaths in the past four years. Vijay is likely to join the July 13 protest demanding justice and transparency.
