KUALA LUMPUR — Over 2,000 police personnel will be deployed to maintain order at the July 26 rally at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur’s acting police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad announced today.

Police estimate 10,000–15,000 attendees, with participants gathering at four locations — Sogo, Masjid Jamek, Masjid Negara, and Pasar Seni — before marching to Dataran Merdeka.

While stressing the right to peaceful assembly, Usuf warned against provocation or remarks touching on sensitive issues of religion, race, or royalty, saying police would act if laws are broken.

He said no road closures are planned yet, but authorities will monitor the situation closely on the day.

On a separate case, Usuf said no significant leads have emerged in the April kidnapping of Datin Seri Pamela Ling, though 48 witness statements and a suspect photofit have been collected so far.
