ALOR GAJAH — A 20-year-old shop assistant was charged today in the Magistrate’s Court with murdering his girlfriend’s 19-month-old daughter earlier this month.
Muhammad Isyraf Hifhzan Abdullah was accused of killing the toddler at a shop in Bandar Satelit Pulau Sebang around 9pm on July 6. He faces the death penalty or up to 40 years’ jail and at least 12 strokes of the cane under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
No plea was recorded as the case will be heard in the High Court. The court denied bail and fixed September 23 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Fiqri Hakim Zamri prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented.
