BRUSSELS — The EU on Friday approved its 18th round of sanctions on Russia over the Ukraine war, including a lower price cap on Russian oil exports.
The package, described by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas as “one of its strongest yet,” aims to further weaken Moscow’s war effort. “Europe will keep raising the pressure until Russia ends its war,” she said.
Slovakia dropped its weeks-long opposition after securing guarantees from Brussels on gas prices, as the bloc works to phase out Russian gas imports by 2027.
