KOTA BHARU — Civil society groups have slammed Kelantan police for wrongly calling a June 2025 HIV health outreach a “gay sex party” and for their conduct during the raid.
Led by Justice for Sisters, the coalition said the event was a legitimate health initiative providing HIV education, condoms, voluntary testing, and doctor consultations — with all attendees testing negative and no evidence of sexual activity found.
They condemned the police for stigmatising statements, privacy violations, degrading treatment, and trumped-up charges against three attendees, warning this harms HIV prevention efforts among marginalised groups.
Over 25 groups, including Amnesty International Malaysia and Women’s Aid Organisation, urged police to correct their statement and stop undermining critical public health services.
