KUALA LUMPUR — Dozens protested outside the US embassy Friday, urging Washington to withdraw President Donald Trump’s nomination of Nick Adams as ambassador to Malaysia, citing his pro-Israel and Islamophobic remarks.

Protesters, led by youth wings of the ruling Pakatan Harapan coalition, carried posters reading “No space for racists and Islamophobes in Malaysia” and submitted a memorandum calling for a more moderate, professional nominee.

Adams, 40, an Australian-born US citizen and Trump loyalist, has described himself as an “alpha male” and dismissed Palestinian supporters as “terrorist sympathisers.”

Malaysia, a Muslim-majority country with no ties to Israel, has condemned Israeli actions in Gaza. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government will consider public sentiment while maintaining ties with Washington as trade talks continue.

Critics warned Malaysia needs a skilled, culturally sensitive diplomat — not a partisan figure — for the role. Adams, in a post, called his nomination “the honour of a lifetime.”
