KUALA LUMPUR — The Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) clarified it has not joined Perikatan Nasional (PN) despite meeting PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.

PSM deputy chairman S. Arutchelvan said the party attended the meeting in line with its policy of engaging in discussions with any party and shared its views on Muhyiddin’s proposal for a united opposition.

He stressed no decision has been made and any coalition move must be approved by the PSM Congress, guided by its principle of Democratic Centralism.

Currently, PSM only maintains understandings with Muda and Parti Rakyat Malaysia. Muhyiddin’s meeting included several other opposition parties but notably without PAS.
