WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump announced that another 10 hostages will soon be released from Gaza, as ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas continue in Doha.
At a White House dinner, Trump praised envoy Steve Witkoff’s efforts and expressed hope for a swift resolution. The US-backed proposal envisions a 60-day truce, with Hamas releasing 10 hostages and the bodies of 18 others in exchange for Israel freeing Palestinian detainees.
Hamas indicated it prefers an interim truce but may push for a full deal if talks stall.
Israel’s war in Gaza has killed over 58,600 Palestinians, while around 1,650 Israelis and foreign nationals have died since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack.
