JOHOR BAHRU — Six of the 10 pupils injured when their school van overturned on Jalan Abdul Samad remain in Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) for follow-up treatment, though all are in stable condition, Johor’s Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin said.

The other four were discharged yesterday evening, while six more students escaped with minor or no injuries. All victims were from SJKT Jalan Yahya Awal, while others involved were from SMK Mohd Khalid and SMK Aminuddin Baki.

Aznan said authorities are investigating possible negligence or technical failure, and are discussing long-term road safety solutions with the state Public Works Committee.

“Our focus is on the students’ recovery and preventing similar accidents,” he added. The van had flipped after hitting an open pothole.
