Malaysia has yet to receive a formal request from the United States regarding the proposed appointment of conservative commentator Nick Adams as the next US ambassador. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the ministry will wait to review the request before making any recommendations to the Cabinet. He stressed it would be premature to react without official documentation, adding that rejecting a nomination before a formal request could be embarrassing.Adams, an Australian-born conservative and vocal Trump supporter, was announced as the nominee by former US President Donald Trump on July 11. His appointment will still need Senate confirmation. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia will follow proper diplomatic procedures and consider the nomination carefully while maintaining strong US ties.
