Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Budget 2026 will prioritise developing highly skilled talent in key technology sectors, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) and upstream semiconductors. Speaking at the 9th International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities (ICOSH), Anwar who also serves as Finance Minister stressed that nurturing such expertise is crucial to meet urgent industry demands. He said the government would focus on accelerating training and welfare programmes to uplift the capabilities and future prospects of Malaysian youth. The move signals a national push to strengthen Malaysia’s position in the global high-tech arena.
