IPOH — An elderly married couple was found dead at their home in Desa Lang Indah here this morning.
Ipoh District Police Chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said his department received a distress call at 8.58 am from a man who reported that there were unconscious individuals at the house.
He said upon arrival, police discovered that both victims, Ooi Kock Hooi and his wife, Wong Pow Choo, both aged 78, had already died.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple lived with their grandson, but he had not returned home since Sept 24 as he was staying in a hostel, and had informed that the couple was in good health prior to this
“Both were found in the bedroom of the house, and it is understood that the woman had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for the past five years and was cared for by her husband,” he said in a statement today.
Abang Zainal Abidin said inspection at the scene, which was a double-storey terrace house, showed no signs of forced entry, struggle, or other criminal elements.
“The couple’s deaths were confirmed by a medical officer from Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) at 9.45 am. “Police have classified the case as sudden death,” he said.
