The highly anticipated Tamil political period drama Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, has generated massive buzz ahead of its upcoming audio launch event in Chennai on January 3rd — with industry icons expected to attend and mark one of the biggest Kollywood celebrations ahead of Pongal 2026.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sudha Kongara and produced by Dawn Pictures, Parasakthi is slated for a theatrical release on 10 January 2026 during the lucrative Pongal festival week — a strategic move by the makers after previously being scheduled for 14 January.

Malik Streams Corporation — a Malaysian media distribution company — has officially acquired distribution rights for Parasakthi in Malaysia. This means the film’s theatrical release in Malaysia will be handled by Malik Streams, marking a significant international partnership ahead of its Pongal launch.

The film is a political historical drama set in the 1960s, inspired by real events surrounding the Anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu. It features a strong ensemble cast including Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa Murali, Sreeleela, and others, with music by G. V. Prakash Kumar.

The movie is expected to be a major contender at the box office, especially as it goes head-to-head with another big Pongal 2026 release, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, setting up one of the year’s biggest Tamil film clashes.
