While not a traditional field sport, the "competitive" race for semiconductor dominance saw a major update today as Indonesia officially invited Malaysia to collaborate on a new generation of semiconductor technology. This partnership aims to leverage Malaysia's established back-end expertise with Indonesia's growing manufacturing ambitions.

The proposal was discussed during a bilateral meeting where both nations agreed that a "regional hub" strategy is necessary to compete with global giants. This collaboration is expected to create thousands of high-tech jobs across both countries and strengthen the ASEAN tech ecosystem.

For Malaysia, this move is seen as a way to move up the value chain into front-end design and advanced packaging. Industry leaders are optimistic that this cross-border synergy will attract multi-billion dollar investments from global tech firms looking for stable alternatives in Southeast Asia.
