The sports program for the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics officially began on Wednesday with mixed doubles curling, just two days before the opening ceremony. However, the event faced an early hitch when a brief power cut blacked out scoreboards at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium. Heavy snow is suspected to have caused the outage, pausing matches between Sweden vs. South Korea and Great Britain vs. Norway.

Despite the technical glitch, Team GB's Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds secured a winning start to their campaign. Meanwhile, American ski star Lindsey Vonn continues to dominate headlines as she prepares to race in the downhill event despite a completely ruptured ACL in her left knee. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, February 6.
