Police have blocked a planned rally by a coalition of NGOs and independent preacher Zamri Vinoth outside the Sogo shopping mall. The protest aimed to pressure authorities regarding the status of allegedly "illegal" houses of worship.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain warned of strict action under the Public Order Act if the gathering proceeds. The Home Ministry emphasized that public safety is the priority, especially with international guests in the country. The government urged parties to respect the legal process and stated that freedom of expression must not cause disharmony or jeopardize public safety.
