Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that he will brief the Cabinet tomorrow on the sensitive issue of unauthorized houses of worship and the recent trespass incident at a temple in Rawang, Selangor. The briefing aims to provide a factual chronology of events involving the unauthorized demolition attempt and to prevent further manipulation of the issue by irresponsible parties.
The police have detained four individuals and seized a backhoe following the encroachment, which was carried out without a permit or consultation with local authorities. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has also issued a firm warning, stating that no one should take the law into their own hands based on personal emotions or preferences, and that all disputes regarding land status must be resolved through legal channels.
In a related move to address long term environmental and social concerns, the Selangor State Government has announced it will stop issuing new pig farming licenses and gradually close existing farms in the state. This decision follows a royal decree from the Sultan of Selangor, and the industry will transition towards importing all pork needed for the state market.
