Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today chaired a meeting of the National Cyber Security Committee, announcing a major overhaul of the nation's digital defense architecture. The government is moving to consolidate various functions under a single command structure the Cyber Security and Cryptology Development Centre (CSCDC). This new centralized entity will integrate the Malaysian Cryptology Technology and Management Centre (PTPKM) with CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM).

Operating within the Prime Minister’s Department and regulated by NACSA, this move is designed to address increasingly complex threats in a volatile geopolitical environment. Furthermore, the PM gave in-principle approval for a new Cyber Crime Bill. This legislation is set to replace the outdated Computer Crimes Act 1997, specifically targeting modern digital risks such as the misuse of AI deepfakes and non-consensual dissemination of intimate images.
