Malaysian para-shuttler Cheah Liek Hou has successfully defended his men's singles SU5 world title, marking his ninth career world crown. Liek Hou's dominant 21-6, 21-11 victory in Bahrain was followed by another gold in the doubles category alongside partner Faris Ahmad Azri, bringing his total world championship tally to 16 titles. 

The 37-year-old veteran expressed that this year's Chinese New Year celebrations are particularly meaningful following his golden outing. Having returned home just days before the festivities, Liek Hou took a brief break to celebrate with family before resuming his training schedule at the national academy. 

Liek Hou’s consistent dominance on the international stage continues to make him one of Malaysia's most decorated athletes. His success is a testament to the high performance of the national para-sports program and serves as a major boost ahead of the 2026 Asian Para Games later this year.
