In local football news, Lescott FC emerged as the champions of the Serian Chinese New Year (CNY) Football Carnival on Wednesday, 18 February 2026. The three-week 11-a-side tournament concluded with a final match in Kampung Temong Bengan, where Lescott FC defeated Lans United with a decisive 2-0 scoreline. The event, which drew participation from 16 local teams, was officiated by Serian MP Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem. 

The champions were awarded a cash prize of RM500, alongside a trophy and medals, while the runners-up took home RM300. This community-driven tournament serves as a key platform for scouting local talent within the Sarawak football ecosystem. Officials at the closing ceremony emphasized the importance of such carnivals in fostering unity and maintaining active lifestyles among the youth in the region.
