As the 98th Academy Awards draw closer, India’s official entry, 'Laapataa Ladies' (directed by Kiran Rao), has launched its final "For Your Consideration" campaign in Los Angeles today. The film, which received widespread critical acclaim for its satirical take on patriarchy, is competing for a spot in the Best International Feature Film category.

Special screenings for Academy members are being held throughout the day, with producer Aamir Khan and director Kiran Rao attending Q&A sessions to boost the film's visibility. Industry experts note that the film’s universal themes of female empowerment and identity are resonating well with the international voting body, giving it a strong chance to make the final shortlist.

In addition to the main entry, several Indian documentaries and short films are also being promoted today at the TCL Chinese Theatre. With the success of 'RRR' and 'The Elephant Whisperers' in previous years, the Indian film fraternity is optimistic about another historic night at the Dolby Theatre this March.
