Several major film festivals are launching or reaching critical milestones today. In the United States, the SXSW Festival 2026 is hosting several highly anticipated premieres, including the stylish thriller Pretty Lethal starring Maddie Ziegler and Lana Condor, which screens tonight at the Paramount Theatre. Additionally, the intimate documentary The Truth and Tragedy of Moriah Wilson has a key satellite screening today in Austin.

In India, the Habitat International Film Festival begins today in Delhi, opening with the documentary MANCH (2026), which follows a theatre workshop for children adapting Hungarian folk tales. The festival will showcase 24 films over its run, including works from major global events like Venice and Toronto. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Māoriland Film Festival has announced a record-breaking 2026 programme featuring 108 films representing 130 Indigenous nations.

Other local festivals are also in the news, such as the Bhaktapur Film Festival, which officially opened its doors today for invitation-only programs ahead of its public screenings next weekend. In Vermont, the Green Mountain Film Festival features a special screening of the 1956 classic Godzilla tonight, complete with a political and social commentary discussion.
