In an "instant classic" Elite Eight matchup on March 29, UConn secured a dramatic 73-72 comeback victory against Duke to advance to the Final Four in Indianapolis. The Huskies trailed by as many as 19 points in the second half but claimed the win on a desperate, 35-foot half-court heave by Braylon Mullins as time expired. This victory marks UConn’s third trip to the Final Four in the last four seasons.
Joining UConn in the Final Four is Michigan, who dominated Tennessee in a 95-62 rout earlier that day. On the other side of the bracket, Arizona and Illinois secured their places on Saturday, March 28, by ending long droughts with wins over Purdue and Iowa, respectively. The national semifinals are set for Saturday, April 4, at Lucas Oil Stadium, where UConn will face Illinois and Michigan will take on Arizona.
