In a significant shift in diplomatic strategy, U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly told aides he is interested in ending the ongoing conflict with Iran even if the strategic Strait of Hormuz remains closed. This move coincides with White House statements suggesting interest in having Arab nations help cover costs related to the U.S.-Israeli military campaign. While Trump claims "great progress" in negotiations with what he calls a "NEW REGIME," Iran's foreign ministry has repeatedly contradicted these claims, denying that such negotiations are taking place.

The conflict continues to see intense activity, with Hezbollah reporting it launched 40 attacks on Israeli targets over the past 24 hours. On the ground in Lebanon, the situation remains perilous; two UN peacekeepers were killed on Monday when an explosion destroyed their vehicle near Bani Hayyan. Meanwhile, internal Israeli politics are under scrutiny as Palestine condemns a proposed death penalty law for Palestinian prisoners, labeling it a "war crime".

International ripples from the conflict are affecting global markets, with crude oil prices rising due to ceasefire uncertainty. In Asia, central bank governors from South Korea and Malaysia are calling for flexible monetary policies and increased resilience as they navigate the economic shocks of the war.
