The RM16.8 billion Penang LRT Mutiara Line has officially entered its main construction phase this month, with piling works and a cross-sea link to Butterworth included in the approved plans. Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed that Package 2 tender delays will not affect the overall schedule, which targets a completion date of December 2031. This project marks a significant shift in Malaysia's urban rail infrastructure, aiming to provide high-capacity public transport for the northern island.

To manage the impact of construction, a large-scale traffic management plan is being implemented, expected to affect traffic around the Bayan Lepas Industrial Area and the airport for up to 38 months. Meanwhile, in the Klang Valley, the LRT3 line is set to begin operations by June this year, with 14 out of 22 train sets having already completed their trials. These developments are part of a broader government effort to lower the cost of living by providing more affordable and efficient mobility choices.

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad has also expressed hope that the government will continue the unlimited monthly travel pass initiative in the upcoming 2026 budget to sustain ridership levels. Parallel to these rail projects, the government is studying guidelines to prevent sensitive 3R issues (Race, Religion, and Royalty) from being touched upon during parliamentary debates. The king has also been briefed on new online safety plans aimed at protecting families and children from digital harm.
