The Malaysian national men’s hockey team, the Speedy Tigers, are in final preparations for the upcoming Nations Cup under new leadership. Head coach Sarjit Singh and technical director Carolan are focused on a top-three finish to secure momentum ahead of next year's World Cup qualifiers. The team is looking to bounce back from their fourth-place finish in the recent Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, with training sessions emphasizing defensive discipline.

In multi sport news, the Malaysian Youth and Sports Ministry has identified aquatics, badminton, and cycling as the primary medal targets for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya. A specialized "ASIAKOM" project has been launched to prepare a core group of 39 athletes for these games and the Commonwealth Games. This strategic focus aims to improve on past performances by providing elite level training and medical support.

Additionally, Malaysia is moving forward with plans to host the 2027 SEA Games, with Sarawak, Sabah, and Penang expected to co-host several events alongside Kuala Lumpur. This collaborative effort is aimed at managing costs while showcasing the country's diverse sporting infrastructure. Malaysia will also be the first host to enforce the new WADA anti-doping code during the event to ensure the highest standards of integrity.
