The federal government has announced a major financial boost for Penang, allocating RM800 million for critical water security projects. The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation will implement five key infrastructure projects aimed at ensuring a sustainable water supply for the state, which has faced increasing demand and seasonal scarcity.

These projects are part of a broader national strategy to address water bankruptcy risks and modernize Malaysia's water management systems. The federal intervention is seen as a necessary move to support Penang's industrial growth and residential needs, particularly as climate change makes traditional water sources less reliable.

In a related infrastructure development, Transport Minister Anthony Loke clarified that integrating the LRT and KTM systems remains a complex challenge, although the government is continuing to explore ways to improve seamless connectivity across the Klang Valley.
