Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced during the ministry's monthly assembly today, May 4, 2026, that the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) will be fully operational by June. This milestone marks the culmination of a phased rollout that began in March 2026, following successful pilot trials at land and sea entry points. The system is designed to digitalize border control entirely, integrating AI-driven biometric identification such as facial, fingerprint, and iris scans to enhance national security and monitoring efficiency.

Alongside the NIISe launch, the Home Ministry will introduce enhanced security features for the MyKad and national passports to combat increasingly sophisticated identity fraud and forgery. Documents submitted through the new system will be equipped with the latest security technologies to ensure they meet modern global safety standards. Saifuddin emphasized that the National Registration Department (JPN) and the Immigration Department are fully prepared for this transition, which he described as a historic "key performance indicator" for the ministry this year.

The Ministry will also launch a new digital portal in June to handle applications and submissions for citizenship information approved under the Federal Constitution. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve public service delivery and streamline administrative processes through the MyDigital ID platform. By centralizing identity management into a secure digital ecosystem, the government aims to eliminate data leakages and ensure that national borders remain protected against illegal syndicates and cross-border crime.
