A 70-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Persiaran Pegoh Aman 2, Taman Desa Aman, late last night after police received a distress call from the victim's son around 10:00 PM. Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman lying motionless with severe slash wounds to her head, neck, and body. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene, and her body has been sent to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Following the discovery, Ipoh district police quickly arrested a 52-year-old local man, who is identified as a neighbor of the victim. A parang (machete), believed to be the weapon used in the violent assault, was recovered at the scene during the initial forensic sweep. Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the attack, and a remand application for the suspect is being processed today to facilitate further questioning.
The incident has caused significant alarm in the quiet residential area of Ipoh, particularly as it involved such a brutal attack on a senior citizen in her own residence. Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah, confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Police have urged anyone with additional information to come forward to assist in solving the case.
