Rescue teams in Indonesia are currently engaged in a massive search operation after the Mount Dukono volcano erupted unexpectedly this morning, leaving at least three hikers dead. Dangerous conditions, including thick volcanic ash and high temperatures, have hampered the rescue of approximately 20 hikers who remain missing near the summit. Local authorities have issued an immediate "No Go" zone around the volcano as smoke continues to rise thousands of meters into the atmosphere.

The eruption triggered chaos in the North Halmahera Regency, where residents were seen watching as smoke and ash blanketed nearby villages. Indonesia's disaster management agency has dispatched additional search units and drones to locate survivors despite the volatile environment. This incident follows a record number of fatal volcanic and wildlife incidents in the region over the past year.
