Lionsgate has officially announced that it is developing a live stage adaptation of its massive psychological thriller franchise, The Housemaid. The studio is teaming up with British production company Melting Pot the renowned theatrical team behind the acclaimed stage versions of Life of Pi and Paranormal Activity to bring the twisted narrative to live audiences. Acclaimed playwright Bekah Brunstetter, who earned a Tony nomination for writing Broadway's The Notebook, has been officially attached to write the script.

This move follows the December 2025 film's major box office success, which grossed roughly $400 million on a $35 million budget. The thriller's tense, claustrophobic nature is considered ideal for a stage production. While casting and timelines are pending, the play will adapt Freida McFadden’s original novel and film. The project aligns with Lionsgate's expanding live entertainment portfolio, while a cinematic sequel, The Housemaid's Secret, is set for a December 2027 release.
