KUALA LUMPUR: A piece of cloth that fell onto electrical wiring is believed to have sparked a small fire involving the aluminium-layered roof at the Mid Valley Komuter Station today.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Zakaria Shaari said firefighters were dispatched after receiving distress calls at 6.43pm.

He said initial investigations found that the cloth had fallen onto electrical wiring and caught fire before the flames spread to part of the station's aluminium-layered roof.

"When firefighters arrived, the fire involving the aluminium-layered roof had already extinguished itself.

"There were no casualties and no damage to the building structure," he said.

Earlier, photographs and videos showing the small fire at the Mid Valley Komuter Station circulated on social media after being shared by several users.
