A couple was arrested in Bandar Tasik Puteri, Rawang, for the alleged abuse of their eight-year-old daughter, which led to her death. The arrest occurred at 9 p.m. yesterday, following reports of the girl's death at 3:27 p.m. the same day.

According to Gombak district police chief ACP Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir, the arrested individuals are the child's biological mother and her stepfather. Preliminary examinations revealed that the girl had sustained injuries and bruises on her face, hands, legs, and body from being beaten with hands, belts, clothes hangers, and blunt objects. Her body has been sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for a post-mortem.

The investigation, now classified as a murder case under Section 302 of the Penal Code, has led to the suspects—aged 28 and 29, working as security guards and ice cream makers—being remanded for seven days, until August 24

Initial findings indicate that the victim, a second-grade student, had not attended school since June. The police are urging anyone with information to contact ASP Mohd Hamizan Mohamad Yunus at 013-8348384 or the Gombak District Police Headquarters Operations Room at 03-61262222.
