Kuala Lumpur on September 18th, a 43-year-old religious leader known as an "Ustaz" will be charged at the Magistrates' Court in Port Dickson for reportedly molesting a trainee teacher at a spiritual center where he serves as chairman.
The defendant, wearing a white robe and skullcap, reached the court at approximately 8:40 am. According to a report in The Star today, he is set to appear in front of Magistrate Uthman Abd Ghani.
The supposed event occurred at the religious facility where the defendant acts as the head.
He will face charges under Section 354 of the Penal Code, with a maximum punishment of 10 years in jail, a fine, whipping, or a combination of these penalties if convicted. Furthermore, he is set to be charged at the Seremban Sessions Court for reportedly engaging in physical sexual assault against a child at the same facility.
This offense is categorized as a violation of Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act. It carries a possible punishment of 20 years in prison and whipping if found guilty.
