KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18* — A 38-year-old man narrowly avoided injury yesterday when a fallen tree crushed his SUV along Batu 16, Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Rawang, near the Latar Highway exit.
The incident was reported to the police at 1:20 PM, as stated by Acting Gombak District Police Chief Superintendent Abang Kaderi Abang Waslu. Remarkably, the driver emerged from the wreckage without a scratch.
A team from the Rawang Fire and Rescue Station arrived promptly and managed to remove the fallen tree. "Fortunately, the driver did not suffer any injuries," Abang Kaderi noted in a statement. Preliminary investigations indicated that heavy rain and strong winds had uprooted the tree.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department dispatched seven officers and a fire engine to the scene. Using specialized equipment, they cut away the branches and freed the trapped vehicle, also clearing the road to restore traffic flow.
