A year after being suspended due to several accidents, Cruise is cautiously relaunching its robotaxi service in the San Francisco Bay Area. The GM-owned company will first map streets in Sunnyvale and Mountain View with drivers before testing a small fleet of fully autonomous taxis under close supervision. Cruise's return comes after similar rollouts in Dallas and Phoenix, while its rival, Waymo, has seen success with over 50,000 paid rides weekly across San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. Cruise also plans to partner with Uber for robotaxi services by 2025.
