Terengganu Trader, 71, Loses RM291,200 in Online Job Scam Promising High Commissions"
A 71-year-old trader from Kuala Terengganu lost RM291,200 to an online part-time job scam. On August 22, an acquaintance from Facebook contacted the victim and offered her a job selling goods online with a promise of a 15% commission.
To start, she was asked to make upfront payments for the goods. Following the scammer's instructions, the woman transferred money to multiple bank accounts in 14 transactions.
Her suspicions arose when additional payments were requested, despite never receiving the promised commission. The victim filed a police report, and the case is now investigated for fraud.
