Bodyguard to Stand Trial Today for Alleged Assault on Deaf E-Hailing Driver

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — A bodyguard accused of assaulting a deaf e-hailing driver at a hotel on May 28 is set to face court charges today under Section 323 of the Penal Code. 

The driver initially reported the incident, claiming he was attacked in the hotel lobby by the bodyguard of a dignitary, but later retracted his statement. Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed that the driver filed a second report the same day to withdraw his first.

To aid the investigation, police have recorded statements from 12 individuals, including the bodyguard, hotel staff, the driver’s companion, a doctor, a Grab operations director, and members of the Special Action Unit.
