Six Malaysian Peacekeepers Injured in Lebanon Explosion*
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 — The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) reported that six members of the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) were injured in an explosion near Saida Stadium, Lebanon, yesterday. The incident occurred at 1:54 PM local time as the MALBATT 850-12 team was traveling from Beirut to Marakah Camp.
The explosion targeted a civilian vehicle but also damaged a bus carrying MALBATT personnel. Among the injured, five members from MALBATT 850-12 sustained minor injuries, while one suffered a suspected closed fracture in the left arm. A member from MALBATT 850-11 also received minor injuries.
The injured peacekeeper was promptly taken to Hamood Hospital in Saida for treatment. The MAF stated it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates, reaffirming its commitment to the safety of its personnel on UN peacekeeping missions.
