Veteran actor Delhi Ganesh, who is one of the most versatile actors in Tamil cinema, has passed away at the age of 80 in Chennai. The talented actor was suffering from age related ailments and breathed his last at his house in Ramapuram, Chennai.
The veteran actor's son, Maahdevan Ganesh shared that he passed away at 11.00 pm last night and the last rites will be held today on November 11. He took took his social media early in the morning to share the news of his father's demise and wrote, "We deeply regret to inform that our father Mr. Delhi Ganesh has passed away on 9th November 2024 at around 11pm."
After having made his debut in K Balachander’s 'Pattina Pravesam' in 1976, Delhi Ganesh has acted in
more than 100 movies in varied roles.Interestingly, he is one Kamal Haasan's close friend and colleague that he has been a regular in many of Kamal Haasan films. Some of his memorable performances were with him including 'Apoorva Sagodharargal', 'Michael Madana Kama Rajan', and 'Avvai Shanmughi'
The senior actor, who was given the stage name ‘Delhi Ganesh’ by Balachander, was a member of the Delhi-based drama troupe, Dakshina Bharata Nataka Sabha, before he entered film. He had also served in the Indian Air Force from 1964 to 1974 before quitting to don the greasepaint for movies.
