TOKYO, Nov 17 — Leong Jun Hao narrowly lost to China’s world No. 9 Li Shifeng in the Japan Masters final, falling 10-12, 13-21 in 44 minutes. Despite the defeat, Leong impressed with a series of upsets, defeating top-ranked players like Japan's Kodai Naraoka (No. 4), Indonesia's Jonatan Christie (No. 6), and India's Lakshya Sen (No. 17).
This marks Leong's first World Tour Super 500 final and makes him the first Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) men’s singles player to reach a World Tour final in 2024.
