KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 — A foreign man has been arrested for severely injuring a local, including gouging out his left eyeball, during a fight at Jalan Ara Kuda, Tasek Gelugor, on November 16.

Penang Police Chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the 28-year-old suspect was detained after the altercation, which occurred around 2 pm. Preliminary investigations suggest the 52-year-old victim provoked the attacker, leading to the violent assault.

The victim was rushed to Hospital Kepala Batas and remains in critical condition. The foreigner is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt, which carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison. The suspect is currently under remand for further investigation.
