Man Electrocuted and Swept Away by Floodwaters in Kelantan

A 33-year-old man, Tuan Mohd Zakaria Tuan Ismail, died after being electrocuted when floodwaters inundated his home in Kampung Banir Belikong, Pasir Puteh, early this morning. The incident occurred around 4:30am as he attempted to unplug a washing machine located behind his house after the water level rose to about one metre.

While wet, he was electrocuted and fell into the floodwaters, which swept him away into a nearby river. Emergency responders arrived shortly after a call was made at 4:55am. His body was found entangled in a tree by the riverbank at 5:30am and later taken to Hospital Tengku Anis for a post-mortem.

The victim’s brother, Tuan Muhammad Tuan Ismail, said the incident happened after both brothers had been surveying flood-affected areas in Kampung Bukit Abal. Despite their efforts to search for him, the strong current and deep water made it impossible until the fire department arrived.
