Driver Escapes Unscathed as Mercedes Benz 450 Catches Fire on Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 — A driver narrowly escaped injury when a Mercedes Benz 450 caught fire at Kilometer 18 of the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway, near the Wangsa Maju Toll Plaza, yesterday afternoon.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department received the distress call at 1:38pm and dispatched a team of seven personnel to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the fire had started in the engine compartment and had fully engulfed the car. The fire was extinguished by 2:15pm, although the vehicle was completely destroyed. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
