KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme has brought nearly half a billion ringgit in investments to Malaysia, Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing announced.
As of December 31, 2024, there were 58,468 MM2H pass holders, including 28,528 principals and 29,940 dependents. The new policy saw 782 approvals, including 319 principals and 463 dependents. Under the programme, the government has received RM233.8 million in fixed deposits and RM222 million in real estate investments.
In response to Bera MP Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob's questions, Tiong also noted that the MM2H programme, launched in 2002, was temporarily suspended in August 2020 for a review. The new policy no longer offers eligibility for permanent resident status, with different investment tiers (platinum, gold, and silver) requiring varying deposit amounts.
