KUALA LUMPUR: Not too long ago, the national football team were doing the K-pop, and now they are doing the kanga.
Following "Oppa" coach Kim Pan Gon's return to South Korea after less than two years with Harimau Malaya, the players find themselves adapting to a different style under Australian Peter Cklamovski.
Timesport asked national midfielder Stuart Wilkin how he was fitting in under the man from Down Under.
"There are already many differences compared to the previous coach (Pan Gon). The new coach has his own approach, which I find easy to understand," said Stuart yesterday.
"His (Cklamovski) tactics focus more on attacking play and a fast-paced game," added the Sabah midfielder.
Wilkins revealed that Cklamovski had introduced several tactical adjustments with high-intensity drills in their two training sessions at the Seri Gelam field in Johor Baru.
Cklamovski wants to transform Harimau Malaya into a high-intensity, aggressive side as they prepare for the Asian Cup qualifier against Nepal at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on March 25.
Wilkin stressed that they still need to be careful against Nepal, despite Harimau Malaya's 5-1 victory over the Ghorkalis in a friendly on March 15 last year.
"It could be a tough match for us, and we cannot underestimate Nepal because they have their own strengths, which could pose a threat to us. They may also field a different squad from the one we faced last year," he added.
